Prof. Dr. Kursat Cagiltay is a Professor of the Department of Instructional Technology at the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. He earned his BS in Mathematics and MS in Computer Engineering from the Middle East Technical University.
He holds a double Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, USA. He worked for METU Computer Center between 1988- 1997 and directed technical team of the Turkish Internet project.
Professor Cagiltay is the head of METU's Distance Education Research and Development Center. He is the founder and director of the Bilgeİş (https://bilgeis.net ) project, which is Turkey's largest massive open online course (MOOC) platform.
Professor Cagiltay is the founder of Turkey’s first Human Computer Interaction research and Application lab at METU. His research focuses on, Human Computer Interaction, technology enhanced learning, educational neuroscience, Social and cognitive issues of electronic games, social informatics, and Human Performance Technologies. According to the results of a study conducted in 2021, he is in the top three of the most productive and influential researchers in the field of education in Turkey.
Assoc. Prof. is a Director for Global at the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences at Newcastle University, UK. She is a Senior Fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy. She specialises in research and pedagogy in technology enhanced language learning and online language teaching. She has many years of teaching experience at secondary, tertiary, and adult education in Turkey and the UK. At Newcastle, she supervises PhD students and teaches masters level courses, such as technology-enhanced language learning, materials design, and online language teaching. She is particularly interested in communicative and pedagogical aspects of online multimodal interaction, focusing on concepts such as social presence, meaning-making, interculturality, digital literacy, and instruction giving. She is the co-editor of the Journal of Virtual Exchange, and the editor of the book 'Virtual exchange: towards digital equity in internationalisation'. She has given numerous talks at conferences, workshops, and seminars worldwide, and written many book chapters and journal articles. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator (coordinator) of the ENACT project https://enacteuropa.com/co-funded by the European Union.
Emine Adadan is Professor of Chemistry Education at the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Bogazici University, Turkey. She received her B.S. in Chemistry Education from Marmara University. Before attending graduate school, she worked as a high school chemistry teacher for four years.
Prof. Adadan earned her Masters and Ph.D., both in science education, from the Ohio State University, USA. She joined Bogazici University, Faculty of Education, in 2007, and since then she offers teacher education courses associated with teaching and learning, working with preservice chemistry teachers. In addition to her academic work, she is now serving as Associate Dean for Faculty of Education.Prof. Adadan worked in various national and international research projects. Her research involves exploring the patterns of change in students’ conceptual understandings of science concepts, in particular when they engage in multi-representational instruction, using visuals for instructional and assessment purposes, nanoscience education, capturing progress in teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge, and examining teachers’ reflective thinking skills as they involve in electronic portfolio construction.
Prof. Adadan is an editorial board member of Journal of Science Teacher Education and the advisory board member of Science and Technology Journal, a popular science journal, published monthly by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. She is also the recipient of the Excellence in Research Award from Bogazici University Foundation in 2017.

Pelin Demirel is a Senior Lecturer in Innovation and Enterprise at Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London. Pelin’s research and teaching focus on innovation and entrepreneurship with a particular emphasis on sustainability. Investigating the potential of innovations and entrepreneurship for a more sustainable and inclusive society motivates her most recent research projects. Her research is funded by various bodies including Leverhulme Trust, ESRC, EPSRC and British Academy. She is an Associate Editor of European Management Review and serves on the editorial review board for Small Business Economics Journal.
